Small Systems has designed and developed several programmable MIDI controllers for musical and theatrical applications, including the ABTT Product of the Year '94 and systems used in West End and Broadway productions. We welcome involvement in MIDI projects using embedded controllers or PCs (or both!)

sophisticated MIDI to relay control
velocity sensitive MIDI keyboard

Embedded systems can also be provided using processors such as Intel 80186 , 8080 , 8085 , 8051 , Zilog Z80 , Hitachi 64180, Microchip PIC 16xx and 17xx and Atmel 8951 families. We are happy to quote for work using other processors - just ask!

Text mode DOS programming can be provided for systems where speed, simplicity and reliable, repeatable timing are necessary, or where an embedded PC is required without the expense of video hardware.

Text based UNIX programming can be undertaken where a more robust system is required than DOS can provide.

Examples of our work include :

cron jobbed scripts that scanned a number of DEC Alpha boxes returning setld and other configuration information
C programs that collated the data generated by the scripts and created dynamic web pages for display on a corporate intranet.

A full hardware design, PCB production and assembly service is available so that we may assist you with all aspects of your embedded controller project. We are a small and flexible company but pride ourselves on our quality and rigorous test procedures.

Manuals and technical data sheets can be written and supplied in various formats. Documents can be provided in English or French and may include text and graphics. As much care goes into the preparation of documentation as to the system it describes.
